Local rocker celebrates happy birthday — Green Day style

on March 24, 2017 - 9:36am

David Taggart is still buzzing about his birthday.

The local rocker spent his 26th getting dragged up on Montreal’s Bell Centre stage by his rock n’ roll idol, Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong, and belting out a verse in front of a raucous crowd before stage-diving headlong into a sea of waiting arms.

“That was insane. That was so ridiculous that happened to me on my birthday,” said Taggart, who said the concert was a surprise planned by his sister, Rylee Taggart, and his girlfriend, Aoife Coleman, who celebrated her birthday Thursday — the day after Taggart.

Watch Green Day's Rousing 'Still Breathing' on 'The Late Show' - Rolling Stone

on March 22, 2017 - 12:32pm

"Still Breathing" is the second single from Green Day's 12th album, last year's Revolution Radio. The band is

Green Day rocks out against Trump during high-octane show at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center

on March 19, 2017 - 10:55am

"F--k Donald Trump!"

Those were the words Billie Joe Armstrong screamed into his microphone midway through Green Day's high-octane show Thursday night at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.

The sentiment summed up Armstrong's message of social equality and resistance that was a constant theme throughout the evening.

As the band powered its way through a rocking set that spanned the group's 30-year career, it was obvious that Green Day had regained some of the bite that their music had focused on during the Bush Era.

Review: Green Day rocks the DCU Center in Worcester

on March 18, 2017 - 5:33pm

Billie Joe Armstrong believes in the transformative power of rock' n' roll.

We know this because he informed the sold-out, St. Patrick's Day crowd at the DCU Center in Worcester as he was reeling from the impact of his band Green Day's two-and-a-half hour set, that rock' n' roll can change the world.

Lying on the stage, swept away in the euphoria of The Isley Brother's "Shout," which the band had somehow turned into the Rolling Stones' "Satisfaction" and the crowd-fueled chorus of The Beatles' "Hey Jude," Armstrong had found the unity he had been seeking from the outset.

"This is beautiful,
