Heads up, Jerry Brown and Meg Whitman: You may be in for some unexpected company come November.

“I’m running for governor of California!” Billie Joe Armstrong revealed Tuesday night at Irvine’s Verizon Wireless Amphitheater, where Green Day played one of the final dates of its U.S. tour in support of last year’s “21st Century Breakdown.”

That this announcement came not long after the frontman declared (in slightly saltier language)

AOL MUSIC launched the first-ever “Sessions” taping by a Broadway show with the cast of the critically acclaimed AMERICAN IDIOT. “Sessions,” known for their exclusive and intimate (often acoustic or stripped down) performances of songs by popular musicians such as Beyonce, Lady Gaga, Bon Jovi and, of course, Green Day, filmed six numbers with the cast of AMERICAN IDIOT in the AOL New York Studios on Friday, August 20, 2010.
