The Antoinette Perry Awards for Excellence in Theatre or Tony Awards, recognize achievement in live American theatre. This year Green Day can add 3 more nominations to their already impressive list of 162 nominations and 72 awards, including BEST MUSICAL!

American Idiot on Broadway has been nominated for the coveted Tony Award for Best Musical in addition to Best Scenic Design of a Musical for Christine Jones and Best Lighting Design of a Musical for Kevin Adams! Congratulations to Christine, Kevin, cast, crew and creative team!

DRAMA DESK AWARDS

Green Day's newly-released musical American Idiot has earned the band a nod in the Outstanding Musical category, alongside The Addams Family, Memphis, Scottsboro Boys, Yank! and Everyday Rapture, while My Wonderful Day, Circle Mirror Transformation, Happy Now, Red, Next Fall and Clybourne Park will compete for the Outstanding Play award. The Drama Desk awards will be handed out at a ceremony at New York City 's Lincoln Center on May 23rd, 2010, hosted by musical star Patti LuPone.
