GREEN DAY CANCEL REMAINING 2012 APPEARANCES

DATES SCHEDULED FOR JANUARY AND FEBRUARY 2013 TO BE POSTPONED

GREEN DAY ¡TRÉ! RELEASE DATE MOVED UP TO DECEMBER 11, 2012

Los Angeles, CA – October 29, 2012 – Green Day announced today they will cancel their club tour that was due to launch in Seattle at the Paramount Theatre on September 26th and wind down in Tempe, AZ at the Marquee Theatre on December 10th.  Tickets for these clubs shows will be refunded at point of purchase.   Additionally, Green Day will postpone all scheduled appearances for the months of January and February 2013.  New dates for these rescheduled shows will be announced shortly and previously purchased tickets will be honored on the new dates.

“Obviously the timing for this isn’t ideal, but Billie Joe’s well-being is our main concern,” said Mike Dirnt.  “We are happy to say that Billie Joe is doing well, and we want to thank you all for the outpouring of support and well wishes that we have received, and we can’t wait to see you all again soon.

Green Day also announced they would move up the release date of Green Day ¡Tré! to December 11, 2012 from its original date of January 15, 2013.

“We feel bad we have to delay our tour, so to make up for it we want to give our fans the music earlier than we had planned,” said Tré Cool.  “If we couldn’t be there to play it for you live, the least we could do was give you the next best thing.”

Get well soon BJ, I'm glad you're doing well!
It's really sweet thing to let everyone have the album earlier!
You shouldn't have to apologize about this, we understand and wish you all the best. c:

Good luck with rehab, Billie. My husband, son, and I have seen you, Mike, and Tré in concert here in Denver twice, and we have tickets to your show in February. We adore you and the guys, and hope you are feeling better soon. Please take care of yourself for your own sake, and for the sake of your beautiful wife and children. We will always be Green Day fans. Thanks to you, my son is a serious musician who plays guitar, drums, and keyboards. Green Day was his inspiration. He saw "Bullet in a Bible" when he was 6 years old, and was hooked from the get-go. Thank you for giving our son the gift of music, and thank you and the boys for giving your fans such a great time over the years. xoxo from the Wilsons in Denver

Us fans LOVE YOU ALL! we only care that all of you are well always! There is no need to apologize! Your sentiment is sweet but unnecessary. thank you for the early releases. We will stand by you always though everything! Its the very least we can do for you, after everything you have done for us! :D .. you have our forever support though all the twist and turns. Anyone who says anything else can eat sh*t in the rain because you are Awesome as FK! We dont just think it we KNOW it! Looking forward to seeing all you soon! :D Take as much time as you need! :D

I expected this, which made it easier to handle. I was hoping that Billie Joe's substance abuse problems weren't as bad as this, and it makes me sad to know that they are. But at least he's doing well, which is good to hear. I'm glad that he's taking the time he needs to get better, instead of rushing it for the sake of the fans, and putting his health - and possibly his life - in danger over it.

I'm glad that people will get refunds for the cancelled dates, and that the dates I was going to go to in January will be rescheduled with the tickets being honoured at the new dates. And that we are getting TRE! a month early (since my birthday is in December). I do understand, though, that a lot of people weren't as lucky, and have lost a lot of money because of this, and that really sucks. But keep in mind that this entire thing is really unfortunate for everyone involved - us fans, the band, their families, and especially Billie Joe. He probably feels like he's failed everyone. He's probably having a hard time with this whole thing. The band hates disappointing their fans. They know how dedicated we are. They love performing. Having to stay home and not tour when they were supposed to is probably really hard for them. They live for that shit. ANYWAYS...

Wishing everyone the best as I type this! xx I hope Billie Joe gets better, (this will sound cheesy as fuck) becomes a new man, and tears the stage up like never before!!!

Wow. A few of the comments on here really make me sad. I think we should be concerned about Billie Joe right now. I saw in one comment about him "pulling a stunt like this". I wish it was a stunt because that would mean Billie Joe would not be dealing with what he is having to go through right now. So he's not coming to your town right now. Well they will eventually. I'm glad he is taking the time he needs to get healthy. That is all a true Green Day fan should care about. Getting angry isn't going to solve anything.

LoriKay's picture

I understand and I am glad this is being taken seriously. Take care and be well! My thoughts are with you.

tamandlance's picture

Firstly I am glad Billie Joe is getting the help he needs, and his health is the most important thing.
Secondly, please reconsider rescheduling the Seattle show! We were so excited to be seeing you next month...

GD4Ever2348's picture

Get well BJ, all of us green day fans are praying 4 u during this time. I have tix to the Jan 10th show,, and I couldn't wait to be treated to a Green Day show right after the holidays, but i care more about the fact that billie is doing well and that i still get to see you guys, make us proud billie, you always do!

MadeOfRageAndLove's picture

Really disappointed, I was so excited & looking forward to the show. Hopefully they reschedule the canceled shows because (being one of them) we got screwed. It really is a drag this happened right before the new Green Day album/tour... However I'd rather pay for a good concert than poor performance (or outburst). Wish them all the best, hope Billie gets better soon (Need them each happy/HEALTHY!) XoXo

I'm really upset... I've been waiting for years and Green Day don't come to Mexico !!! Now... I bought a fuckin' flight from Mexico to Illinois.. and now what ? I'm gonna loose my money because Billie can't live without drugs ! That's bullshit !!! Mexico is a saved place for musicians. Don't be fuckin' racist !!!

girlsguitars's picture

I call bullsh1t on this whole "rehab" stunt. BJ's behavior at the corporate event was not atypical. He just has to lay low to satisfy the money source and call it rehab. These guys have the best job in the world and I know that they have already conquered the only occupational hazard that they have. You guys suck for cancelling these shows. Glad you had a good run, though.

PamelaKerplunk's picture

Hope everything goes well. THANKS FOR TRÉ ON DECEMBER !
Hope to see you in ARGENTINA AGAIN. LOVE YOU

Anything worth while is always worth waiting for. Take all the time you need and all us idiots will still be here.

Looking forward to !Tre! in time for Christmas.

Stay strong Billie Joe. In the end you'll be better off after this. I am sending you my best regards in hopes of a full and better recovery!

eshawman's picture

Billie Joe, stay strong. All of your fans send their regards to you from heart. Do whatever you need to get better, your health is everyone's concern at the moment. Get better as quickly and as efficiently as you can <3

Hoping Billie gets well soon! :) I'm gonna see them in Oslo June 30 :) Makes me sad to think of all the people who bought their tickets, but can't go see them.. STAY STRONG BILLIE!

pueden ayudar a mi pagina de facebook con un like ? es Green Day (la mejor banda) Gracias

lorilulu's picture

My stomach is in knots, I am so woried abou Billie Joe. I have been a big fan for the last 18 years, and my heart really goes out to him. Please take the time to you need to recover so you can come back better than ever!! I hope eventually you guys will be able to come to Atlanta. I have missed seeing you!!

leapyear60's picture

Billie Joe I hope You are taking the time you need to get your health back. Such a shock after you said you had fun recording these albums and the different types of venues you would play. How are Adriane and the boys handling it? as well as the rest of your family? I will be praying for a suscessfull recovey. I miss chasing you guys around doing interviews and playing gigs. God bLESS, Diane

PunkRockHappy's picture

I am so sad to hear this, because it means Billie Joe's condition is worse than it seemed at first. All I hope now is that he gets back on his feet at all - that is my main concern! I am struggling with some health issues myself, and my date for start working again gets pushed all the time, so I really knows how it feels to have to cancel and postpone more and more.

I also understand the disappointment for all of you who had tickets for nov - feb, but I really think the guys wouldn't do this if it wasn't really necessary. Yelling at Billie like some here does isn't gonna help making him better.

maci's picture

This sucks :( I wish billie the best and I understand the need to reschedule some but the Sacramento concert that I had tickets to is now canceled :/my whole family had tickets and were so excited :( my parents had actually bought each other tickets to this concert as their anniversary gifts.. I really do hope that billie gets well soon because his health is most important I just wish that all of the concerts were postponed and not only the 2013 ones.. because now some of us can't see them at all.

lasistin's picture

Selfishly I want to cry. Of course BJA's health is #1. But I have been on such a high since winning my tickets (sold out by the time i tried to buy) and with todays news its no good for me. My tix were for Dec. so I dont get to see them at all. No postponement just flat out cancelled. I am totally deflated. I would have taken postponement a year from now over cancellation. Whats left to say except get well soon Billie Joe!

Maira_holiday's picture

No matter may cancel all who want to show health while Billie Joe is well or any of you
True fans understand

Sonia07's picture

Get well soon Billie Joe, nothing else matters !! True fans will understand !! Take care, we need you ;-) All my love and respect xx
