GREEN DAY CANCEL REMAINING 2012 APPEARANCES

DATES SCHEDULED FOR JANUARY AND FEBRUARY 2013 TO BE POSTPONED

GREEN DAY ¡TRÉ! RELEASE DATE MOVED UP TO DECEMBER 11, 2012

Los Angeles, CA – October 29, 2012 – Green Day announced today they will cancel their club tour that was due to launch in Seattle at the Paramount Theatre on September 26th and wind down in Tempe, AZ at the Marquee Theatre on December 10th.  Tickets for these clubs shows will be refunded at point of purchase.   Additionally, Green Day will postpone all scheduled appearances for the months of January and February 2013.  New dates for these rescheduled shows will be announced shortly and previously purchased tickets will be honored on the new dates.

“Obviously the timing for this isn’t ideal, but Billie Joe’s well-being is our main concern,” said Mike Dirnt.  “We are happy to say that Billie Joe is doing well, and we want to thank you all for the outpouring of support and well wishes that we have received, and we can’t wait to see you all again soon.

Green Day also announced they would move up the release date of Green Day ¡Tré! to December 11, 2012 from its original date of January 15, 2013.

“We feel bad we have to delay our tour, so to make up for it we want to give our fans the music earlier than we had planned,” said Tré Cool.  “If we couldn’t be there to play it for you live, the least we could do was give you the next best thing.”

GET WELL SOON BILLY!!!! Any idea when y'all will be back on your feet and on tour in US again?

mackawhole's picture

I am very confused. i had recently seen an article revealing that they decided not to cancel their remaining 2012 shows, and just postpone them and that they would release the dates later on. Is this not true? If it wasnt... then why dont i have my money back.. ha.

GET WELL SOON, BILLIE. GREEN DAY IS THE BEST FUCKING BAND OF ALL HISTORY! I LOVE YOU GUYS. WE ARE LOOKING FORWARD TO SEE YOU AGAIN :)! x

Get well soon Billie Joe! your health is the most important thing.

DRAGON06, you are so right. Watching Dr. Drew I have been getting a lot of insight into addictions. Alcohol is a disease, and addiction. Alcoholic's brains react different to alcohol than non addicts. And I think Billie really opened up a lot of old wounds that perhaps he thought were healed, maybe not as much as he thought. Very brave to put yourself out there like that. I miss seeing the guys so much though. After having waited for the next project. But I'm keeping all 3 of my show tickets, and I'll be going. I freaked out when someone on HLN suggested it was a publicity stunt. Give me a break. They had no clue. Billie Joe is all about the music, and I love Green Day!!! What other band of their popularity and caliber give a 3 hour show?? Not too many.

karenrashkash Extreme Green Day Fan's picture

AMEN Nixyxx, that "some powers that be" were working the band to hard. One of them quoted "days with no sleep". Let GREEN DAY take things at a slower pace, they are 40 years old now. They will make tons of money touring. Let them enjoy this trilogy!!!! And that will let the fans enjoy it more too, by actually have live shows to go see. THANK GOD I made the IRVING PLAZA show. It was an amazing show.

wattup's picture

THIS band kicks some serious ass. I have listened to your sound since I was 25. I'm 43 now so you do the math. I have seen them at outdoor venues and in stadiums. They never fail to impress. So if I have to wait an extra few months to see them put on another fantastic live performance. NO WORRIES. Get well soon Mr. Armstrong, and I look forward to that Toronto Canada show

Nixyxx's picture

you know the 'funny' thing? i dont know of one fan who didn't agree with a single word said that night. i know i did. it wasn't big headed, it wasn't a stunt, it wasn't a 'do you know who i am?' it was the truth.
i'll be honest...if you're in america and the dates were cancelled...you cant be as 'upset' as someone in another country can be. so if something happens to emirates i've got less of a chance of seeing GD sooner than anyone stateside has. it's disappointing, but as americans, you know you'll see them again. anyone not in america will have to wait far longer.
i understand the disappointment. there's still no real details, and it's really not our business. i think someone up there was working the entire band too hard, there's stuff GD were doing that they wouldnt normally do and i didn't get it. but people are right. health is most important. the albums are going down a storm and even though there's not a version of publicity, there's still a strong presence. we'll all see them again one way or another, no matter what happens.

dragon06's picture

Oh, and by the way...if you are "beyond angry" that a concert was cancelled then you really need to get your priorities straight, seriously.

And he wasn't insulting Las Vegas at all. He was angry at the production crew for pulling them off early. The only person he specifically insulted was Justin Beiber. They have apologized publicly to anyone who was offended.
You're mad at him cause he was an ass. Ok.
He apologized & goes into treatment to fix the issue that made him an ass.
Now you're mad that he is following his doctor's orders to get better & had to cancel some shows to do this. Hmmm.

Read that over again & see if you can grasp what I am implying.
Pp
No? Ok. Basically - YOU CAN'T HAVE IT BOTH WAYS!

And for god's sake grow up

dragon06's picture

People are taking this personally, like BJ planned it. You think that BJ is enjoying this? He lives for music, he is always so happy to be doing what he is doing. They are all stand up guys, you can't sustain a group for over 20 years with the same guys, Jason White included, make as many albums, have as many awards & accolades, stay on top of the charts, have so many firsts (AI) & tour & not be "family" to each other. All of them live for their fans! Why do you think they have kept concert ticket prices low (much much lower than anyone of the same caliber or lower even)? So their fans can actually go see them.
Anyone who claims to be a punk fan or rock fan & thinks that BJ's "little tirade" was insulting or horrible then you have never seen a true punk or 70/80's rock concert, cause that was nothing. Kiss/AC/DC broke guitars at almost every concert.

This is entertainment, nothing more, nothing less. ANY concert that you buy tickets for has the possibility of being cancelled, this is not something new. So when you buy peripherals to attend the concert that is at your own risk. GD is one of the few bands that has almost no cancellations in their career till now.

You think they have the perfect jobs? Try living it. You think you have stress now? Then you'd never survive on the road. People only see the glory & never really think about what these artists give up & go through to bring us their awesome music.

BJ has an illness, and he is getting treatment for it & he is following his doctors orders so he doesn't have a relapse. He may have left the actual rehab building but there is a lot more healing to be done before he's ready to jump back into the life. You think he should risk his sobriety or his life just to play a concert that you somehow feel you're entitled to? Grow up. Set a better example.

He has a problem & he has made mistakes (human), he's seeking treatment to get better. That is what makes a great role model.

GET WELL BILLY JOE! We'll wait for you!<3

backinblack300's picture

Get well Billie I hope you get better.

Green Day, please please please, postpone the west coast concerts too. I must have some curse that prevents me from seeing you guys, I'm a big fan and I just want to see you guys at least once.

UNO! is fantastic!!!

Green Mexico - no need to apologize. Here in Reno we are beyond angry. They've never played Reno before, he insulted us during the rant in Las Vegas and now they cancel. Ridiculous. Sorry, I feel for anyone who struggles with substance abuse, but your fans are paying the price for BJ not being able to keep it together. I've had to request a refund in the past for a concert that was cancelled and it is no fun. Was hoping they would do a great show here for the insult during the Vegas rant, but now don't even have that to look forward to. What a load of BS.

GreenMexico's picture

I would like to apologize about my last comment. I just was disappointed because I will loose money because of the postponed concert and because I haven't never gone to a Green Day's concert ! May be they don't like Mexico, but I'm a fan since 14 years ago... So get better Billie ! May be on day I'll have the opportunity to be in one of your concerts. Salutations from Mexico !!

I've been a fan for most of my life--since 1992, when I was 14 years old...Green Day has never* ever canceled a tour, except for this one, another leg of the Insomniac tour in Europe...they don't mess around and always built their lives around their music. I think the night of the Los Angeles Riots of 1992, they were playing with Jughead's Revenge, in LA, they* played that gig. I've lived in the US, UK, Germany, Japan and now live in Turkey, and seen them in all sorts of random places and venues. This cancellation shows that marketing plans, release dates and contracted tours will always start/stop with Billie, Mike and Tre: everybody else is simply living in Green Day World.

I've never been bored at a Green Day gig--even at my peak of fandom between Kerplunk and Warning, where they play the same set, have the same opening bands and schtick. Whether it's in a massive stadium, or at Gilman Street, I've never seen a band where everyone's genuinely excited to be there.

They've more or less shaped who I am, from being the DIY/East Bay punk rocker, to fledgling 20 something years and now into my mid-thirties. Pretty much soundtracked my entire life, them and all the things that fall into their orbit.

all i care is that you get well Billie. How ever long it takes you. But please get better. We all need you! we need you all, Green Day is my life, i saw bullet in a bible when i was 6 and nom I'm 13 and i haven't stopped listing to you since. You inspired me to play the guitar. And then in 2009 when i was 10 i went to barcelona to see you and it was the best concert ever. So please get well and GOOD LUCK!

P.S. Please come to Barcelona it would mean the world to me.

My daughter doesn't know she is going and she will flip out. GET WELL SOON!!!
