    Warner Bros. Records have announced the series of vinyl singles and albums they will be releasing on November 28th, in honor of Record Store Day’s “Black Friday” celebration, which subverts the tradition of Black Friday by creating limited-edition pieces that are often numbered, and released by special independent record stores.


    The releases are below:
    Green Day: Tune In Tokyo; Transparent blue vinyl. Limited to 5,000
    This limited-edition 2001 live recording from Japan is available worldwide for the first time ever on transparent blue vinyl.

    Green Day, Nine Inch Nails, The Smiths and Bill Withers are among the first-time nominees for 2015 induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

    The field also includes German electronic band Kraftwerk, hip-hop collective N.W.A., blues singer/guitarist Stevie Ray Vaughan and Motown girl group The Marvelettes, all of whom show the versatility of rock 'n' roll, says Joel Peresman, president and CEO of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Foundation.

    October 9th, 2014 — Green Day are among the 2015 nominees up for induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, it was announced today.

     

    The 2015 inductees are chosen by a secret ballot of over 600 individual voters consisting of all past inductees of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, musicians, historians, critics and members of the music industry.

  • For Green Day, George W. Bush's administration wasn't much fun, but it did inspire a career revival most acts would (metaphorically) kill for. When the recordings for a follow-up called Cigarettes and Valentines was stolen, guitarist Billie Joe Armstrong, bassist Mike Dirnt and drummer Tré Cool decided to regroup and record something completely different -- a rock opera in the vein of the Who's Tommy and Jesus Christ Superstar.
