Olivia Puckett is talking about American Idiot, the punk rock musical from Green Day that startled Broadway in 2014. It was described as a "Punk Temper Tantrum" by the New York Times. Other folks called it a Broadway firebomb.
"It was definitely a revolution," Puckett says. "It took musical theatre in a whole new direction, just like Hair did back in the 1960s. It's a punk rock, high intensity, high energy show. What can I say?"

Hollywood Pantages Theatre announces that individual tickets for Green Day's AMERICAN IDIOT are now on sale to the general public. AMERICAN IDIOT will return to L.A. by way of Hollywood Pantages Theatre for a limited one week engagement; May 13 - 18, 2014. AMERICAN IDIOT, a 2010 Tony Award-nominated Best Musical and 2010 GRAMMY Award winner for Best Musical Show Album, features the music of Green Day with the lyrics of its lead singer Billie Joe Armstrong. Green Day's Foxboro Hot Tubs side project, Cee Lo Green and Blondie will be partying with Rachael Ray at the syndicated TV hosts's seventh annual Feedback party during this year's South By Southwest Music Conference & Festival in Austin, Texas.
The free and open to the public daytime bash on March 15 at Stubb's BBQ -- one of SXSW's most anticipated events each year -- will feature 14 acts on three stages, with Foxboro Hot Tubs playing the venue's tiny indoor room at the band's behest.

It was one of those right place, right time situations. Chris Dugan and his partner, Willie Samuels, had been recording local punk, metal and assorted bands for a couple of years at their Nu-Tone Studio in Pittsburg, Calif. (east of Berkeley/Oakland), when their paths crossed that of the best-known rocker in the area—Billie Joe Armstrong of Green Day. Armstrong had (and still has) his own record label, Adeline Records, and in 1999 he tapped Dugan to come to his home studio to record a few songs for a band he was producing, The Criminals. As the sun went down behind the Showground stands at Sydney’s Olympic Park, Soundwave headliners Green Day took to the stage. This was the band that most in the crowd had come to see. Finally, the main event had arrived!
The boys kicked things off with ’99 Revolutions’ before launching into ‘Know Your Enemy.’ The opening part of the show was frenetic. However, they did slow things down with ‘Boulevard of Broken Dreams’ and ‘Wake Me Up When September Ends.’ Old favourites ‘Longview’ and ‘When I Come Around’ got things going again and had the crowd jumping up and down like it was 1994.

Green Day played a secret show in a pub in Sydney, Australia last night (February 20). See above to watch the band perform 'Brain Stew' now. The gig, which took place at Captain Cook Hotel in the Australian city, was announced just hours before it began with fans forced to dash to the venue in order to gain entry.
