Ah, the side project. It's the perfect outlet for a creatively overstimulated musician who just can't be contained to one band. Unfortunately, many side projects are one-and-dones, rarely getting to tour or exist outside of the artist's main gig. Here are some of our favorite side projects of recent years that we'd love to see come back for another go 'round.

FOXBORO HOT TUBS
When you're Green Day, you can pretty much do whatever you like. Case in point: Foxboro Hot Tubs, a garage-rock side project that appeared out of thin air in late 2007 and dropped their full-length debut, Stop Drop And Roll!!! In early 2008. Sporadic shows followed, but we don't expect a sophomore album any time soon, mainly because Green Day's Dos! is more or less the second Foxboro record. ("Fuck Time" even started off as a Foxboro song.) [SH]

Chances are good that several of you guys enjoy Green Day. We also know that a lot of Flyer readers like to check out a good Broadway show ever once in a while. Those of you who are fans of both, get pumped.

The Broadway adaptation of Green Day’s Grammy Award-winning album American Idiot is coming to Fayetteville in a few weeks, and we’ve got some tickets to give away to the opening night show.

The show tells the story of “three lifelong friends, forced to choose between their dreams and the safety of suburbia,” and features several tracks from the album including “Boulevard of Broken Dreams,” “21 Guns,” “Wake Me Up When September Ends,” “Holiday” and of course, “American Idiot.”

It opens at the Walton Arts Center on Friday, April 26, and runs through Sunday, April 28.

Green Day will be attending the opening night of the Newport Beach Film Festival on Thursday (4/25) for a special gala as they screen 'Broadway Idiot' - the first documentary in the festival's history. Then on Saturday (4/27) '¡Cuatro!' will screen as a highlight in the festival's Music Series. Idiot Nation members can enter to win tickets to both events!
