  • Phoenix is pretty damn lucky. We're one of three cities to host Green Day's intimate "warm up" tour on the band's way to South by Southwest. After this, it's back to the arena show format.

It hardly felt like a stretching session for the band. It was Green Day's second show since singer/guitarist Billie Joe Armstrong's stint in rehab, but the frontman was as kooky and energetic as ever.

  • Green Day returned to the stage over the weekend, performing its first concert since frontman Billie Joe Armstrong's stint in rehab.

According to Rolling Stone, the band played a sold-out, 2-hour show on Sunday at the Fox Theater in Pomona, Calif. The concert was reportedly the first of four warm-up shows that the band will play before kick-starting its arena tour in late March.

Green Day had previously postponed the start of its 2013 world tour after Armstrong's "meltdown" onstage during a concert at Las Vegas' iHeartRadio Music Festival in September.

  • Main Stage headliners Green Day are integral to the identity of Reading & Leeds Festivals, with their performances among the greatest in the festivals' history. With each new record and incarnation, they bring riot and rebellion to a new audience. In 2004, their triumphant headline set featured covers of 'Blitzkreig Bop', 'Ever Fallen In Love?', and fittingly, 'We Are The Champions' and in past performances some lucky fans have had the chance to get up on stage with the band!

  • "How many vintage Green Day fans are out there tonight?" asked singer-guitarist Billie Joe Armstrong last night at the Fox Theater in Pomona, California, midway through the opening show of the band's U.S tour – the band's return from Armstrong's recent rehab. As if to get a closer look, he asked, "Who wants to join us onstage? Come on, let's go!"

The two-hour concert in the 2,000-capacity theater just outside Los Angeles was the first of four intimate warm-up shows (including a stop at SXSW) before heading out to arenas later this month.
