  • In HBO's The Newsroom, John Gallagher Jr. plays Jim Harper, the senior producer of the nightly cable news program anchored by Will McAvoy (Jeff Daniels). The show's second season, which began in July, takes place in 2012 during the presidential primaries. Ever since the start of the series, Gallagher's character has been in a will-they-or-won't-they relationship with one of the young producers of the news show.

  • Green Day have eleven albums under their belt, and they walk onstage each night prepared to play practically any track from that deep catalog. They also aren't afraid of arena rock bombast, embracing pyro, confetti cannons and classic rock covers like "Highway to Hell."

Showstopper: Billie Joe Armstrong brings a fan onstage every night to play guitar on "Longview." Even when they can't play a note it's still an absolute riot.

  • BROADWAY IDIOT (2013) 80m
    Director: Doug Hamilton
    Country: USA
Doug Hamilton’s film started out as a behind-the-scenes look at the idiots that thought a punk rock record could translate to a Broadway musical—Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong and Spring Awakening director Michael Mayer. But the film becomes much more than that; it chronicles Billie Joe’s growing engagement with the creative process of this new, for him, art form. Hamilton shows the journey including a peek at pre-teen Billie Joe, live concert footage and his Broadway debut.

  • The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum’s artifact collection represents a diverse group of artists – much like the genre of rock and roll itself. The exhibits chronicle rock and roll history from its earliest days right through the new millennium, and visitors to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum will find clothing, handwritten lyrics, personal effects and much more. Among the Museum's most treasured pieces are the instruments.

The Museum's collection of rare instruments used in recordings and live performances includes drums, microphones, even flutes and a dulcimer, and the instrument most often associated with rock and roll: the guitar. There are approximately 20 guitars on permanent exhibit in the Museum’s atrium alone, and the instruments are rotated every six months. The guitars focus on Hall of Fame Inductees as well as non-inductee artists – both legendary and contemporary. Today, 10 new guitars that represent Inductees – including Jerry Garcia of the Grateful Dead, Jimmy Cliff, Mike Mills of R.E.M., Flea of the Red Hot Chili Peppers and 2012 inductee, Steve Fossen of Heart – and non-inductees Eugene Hutz of Gogol Bordello and Mike Dirnt of Green Day were placed on exhibit.
