Chris Dugan is an American engineer and producer. He is also a drummer, videographer, and photographer. Dugan began his musical pursuits as a drummer. Needing to be resourceful, he learned to do basic recordings for his high school bands. Engineering was an instinctual progression and it was the purist recording styles of the 60s and 70s that really inspired him. In 1996, he opened Nu-Tone Studios in Pittsburg, Ca with fellow engineer Willie Samuels. Nu-Tone quickly became an indie band favorite, drawing the local rock scene and labels like Lookout, Adeline, and Alternative Tentacles.

The distance between Rodeo and Santa Cruz is just over 90 miles. For the most part the drive is unremarkable – urban, industrial cities and rural, unincorporated towns along the Eastshore Freeway, shaping the wasteland East of the San Francisco Bay. But then the interstate gives way to Highway 17 and you begin the ascent to another world. The road is a thin, curlicue curved by the green Santa Cruz Mountains.

The Drama Desk Awards, which are presented annually, honor outstanding achievement by professional theater artists on Broadway, Off-Broadway and Off-Off Broadway. What sets Drama Desk Awards apart is that they are voted on and bestowed by theater critics, journalists, editors and publishers covering theater, without any vested interest in the results. For this reason, Drama Desk Awards reflect both enthusiasm for all aspects of New York’s professional theater and a level of erudition and theatrical experience unparalleled in our industry’s other prize-giving organizations.

  • A New Jersey high school is testing a new pilot production of the edgy, politically charged Broadway rock musical that has members of the original Broadway creative team involved.

Tony winner Michael Mayer, American Idiot's co-book writer and original director, worked on the new high school adaptation of the show that will premiere April 14-17 at the Jonathan Dayton High School in Springfield, NJ.

Green Day provided the score to the musical, based on the album of the same title, that features lyrics by Billie Joe Armstrong, who co-authored the musical's book.
