    The 2010 MTV Video Music Awards are fast approaching, which means that in only a few weeks you'll be treated to an excellent night of performances and appearances by the likes of Kanye West, Drake, Florence and the Machine and Deadmau5 (who will serve as the house DJ at the show). While people tend to remember the classic performances and the unhinged moments, the coveted Moonman is the reason why people show up and tune in. This year, there are 16 categories wherein some of the biggest music stars in the universe will compete for the coolest trophy in awards shows.

    Green Day and SLASH will help American football team the New York Jets christen the new Meadowlands stadium next month by performing at the home squad's big game against the Baltimore Ravens.

    Green Day will hit the arena with the cast of the American Idiot musical at half-time, while Slash will perform with Pussycat Dolls leader Nicole Scherzinger before the kick-off.

    Scherzinger is also slated to sing the national anthem.

    MANSFIELD - Original '90s punk rockers Green Day showed the years haven't aged them as they took the stage at the Comcast Center Monday night for their last New England stop.

    The band, lead by vocalist and guitarist Billie Joe Armstrong, blasted its way further into the hearts of fans with fire, jumps and fireworks, calling people on stage randomly throughout the night and just having a great time with the show.

    From the start, Green Day worked the crowd into an uproar just by launching into the song "21st Century Breakdown," and Armstrong screamed at fans to raise their hands.
