From Gilman Street to the Hall of Fame, one of rock’s greatest acts never really left where it started.
Before they were “the guys from Green Day,” Billie Joe Armstrong and Mike Dirnt had to bum a lot of rides to get to 924 Gilman Street. Armstrong and Dirnt were teenagers when the Berkeley music club, created in the spirit of the People’s Park movement of the 1960s, opened in 1986, and became the place for East Bay kids to plug in guitars and play punk songs in front of a crowd.

As The Breakfast Club returns to theaters after 30 years, the movie's breakout star, Ally Sheedy, spoke to us about the teen classic and how it gave her cred with her genderqueer daughter.
When you were thinking of the character, was "goth" a thing?
I don't think so. Molly told me earlier that the Cure had some music out then, so that look was out there. But I didn't know the Cure. None of the new inductees are strangers to the stage — Paul and Ringo even played at Cleveland's Public Hall, site of this year's ceremony, back in 1964. So we've assembled 10 fantastic live performances from the new class.

Despite intermittent rain throughout the six-hour, free and open to the public event – which has been a high-profile highlight of the annual SXSW schedule since its inception – lines stretched well beyond the entrance for much of the time.

Writer-director Frank Whaley, primarily a busy film and TV actor ("Field of Dreams," "Ray Donovan"), has crafted a tender, evocative tale of an unlikely friendship in his fourth outing behind the camera, "Like Sunday, Like Rain."
The title, which evokes some lost Neil Diamond song, refers to a music composition written by 12-year-old Reggie (Julian Shatkin), a cello prodigy and all-around brainiac who lives in hollow luxury on Manhattan's Upper West Side with his tense, dismissive mother, Barbara (Debra Messing).
Then there's Eleanor (Leighton Meester), a 20ish waitress with a man-child
