    'American Idiot' Cast Brings Broadway Punk To 'Good Morning America'

    Green Day fans and theater geeks flood Central Park for musical tribute.

    NEW YORK — If someone came up to you and called you an American idiot, you wouldn't react too kindly. But for the people in the audience for Friday's "Good Morning America" Summer Concert, the insult became a chant of praise for the cast of Green Day's Broadway musical.     Green Day’s lyricist, vocalist/guitarist Billie Joe Armstrong, bassist Mike Dirnt and drummer Tré Cool announced their arrival with 1994’s Dookie, which sold 15 million copies and won a Grammy ® Award. American Idiot debuted at No. 1 and earned seven Grammy nominations (winning two). Last year, Green Day released 21st Century Breakdown, which won the Grammy for Best Rock Album. Director Michael Mayer returns to Broadway with American Idiot and Everyday Rapture.
