We instantly fell in love with this gnarly three-headed Green Day dog poster by Michael Hacker, which was made to celebrate an Austrian show back in 2013. Here are three reasons why you want this guitar from Green Day's Billie Joe Armstrong, donated directly from Billie Joe to raise money for the chimpanzees (his favorite chimp is Burrito):
1. It's a kick-ass guitar.
2. The guitar you will win isn't just out of the box from a store, it's the one that Billie Joe has been playing at home.
3. Billie Joe will be signing the guitar with a personalized signature TO YOU right before he ships it.
The guitar is the Billie Joe Armstrong ES-137 from Gibson Memphis with a Black Cherry Burst finish.
"Back then, I just wanted to write songs I could be proud of and be able to play in five years," Billie Joe Armstrong said last year of his attitude while creating Green Day's 1994 pop-punk breakthrough Dookie. The LP went on to sell millions and Armstrong — who didn't get the credit he deserved as a writer back in the days of more serious-minded bands like Nirvana and Pearl Jam — has amassed one of the most impressive song books of the last 20 years.
Grammy Award-winning and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee Green Day has signed with SESAC for representation.
Consisting of Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt and Tre Cool, the American punk band that has reached superstar status on a global stage for songs such as “Boulevard of Broken Dreams,” “American Idiot,” “Know Your Enemy,” and “Wake Me Up When September Ends,” has sold more than 75 million records, won multiple Grammy Awards and toured the world numerous times.
“Green Day is an iconic band that has created important, diverse and unforgettable records,” said John Josephson, Chairman
