  • Green Day’s appearance was technically in the 2007 Simpsons Movie, but it’s too awesome to not include. The film shows the punk trio playing a concert on a barge floating in Lake Springfield. After performing a rendition of the show’s theme song, Green Day begin to talk about the environment, which consequently upsets the fans who then begin throwing litter at the group. The lake gets polluted, causing the barge to dissolve and sink as the members pull out violins and play “Nearer My God To Thee.” “American Idiot (Funeral Version)” is then played by an organist at their funerals. Brilliant!
