  • Rock band will perform Sept. 23 after salute of Canada's 2016 Olympians

    TORONTO - The Scotiabank World Cup of Hockey Fan Village in downtown Toronto's historic Distillery District will salute members of Canada's 2016 Olympic team followed by a live performance from Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees and Grammy® Award-winning rock band Green Day on Friday, Sept. 23 at 6:30 p.m. Tickets to the World Cup of Hockey Celebration of Champions featuring Green Day will be available for purchase via, the official ticket marketplace of the NHL®, beginning at 10 a.m.

    Back in the fall of 2012, Green Day had an ambitious plan to releasethree albums in the span of three months. But while promoting the first installment, ¡Uno!, that September, frontman Billie Joe Armstrong had a public meltdown on stage and subsequently sought treatment for substance abuse.   • Universal Pictures Home Entertainment Content Group has set an October 14 day-and-date release for Ordinary World, fka Geezer, a comedic drama starring Billie Joe Armstrong that premiered at Tribeca in April. The Green Day frontman plays Perry, an aging former punk rocker who’s now a married father of two. He leads a sedate life in Queens until his brother (Chris Messina) gives him money to throw a huge 40th birthday rockstar bash in a fancy Manhattan hotel — a chance to get it out of his system. But Perry’s puck past clashes with his middle-age reality.

  • The lead single from 'Revolution Radio' also marks the band's quickest rise to the top.

    Green Day returns to the top of the heap on Billboard's Mainstream Rock Songs chart with a, well, bang, as "Bang Bang" -- the lead single from the group's upcoming 12th studio album Revolution Radio -- leaps 5-1 on the tally dated Sept. 10.

    The song becomes Green Day's fourth No.
