As Portuguese I had already heard about her. I think this cover is simply awesome, but of couse I prefer the original XD She isn't very famous, because in Portugal the radios and tv give lot of atencion to crap artist like Bieber...
I think she sounds pretty awesome. Ya its NOT the original version. It's not supposed to sound like the original version. And I like the way she sings. Her version of Basket Case is kind like a lullaby in way. It's not something you should sing to a toddler or anything but I think this version is very.. I dunno, like peacful or something. While the original version by Green Day sounds awesome in a different, upbeat kinda way.
She's not getting the lyrics wrong, she's changing them slightly to suit her. This is HER version of the song- that's what covers are all about. They don't have to be exactly the same as the original.
I have to say, I like the idea of having an acoustic arrangement of Basketcase using an upright Bass. However, I did not like her voice or her style of singing. And in my opinion, I think that when you do a cover you can make it your own in a manner of speaking, but you have to stay true to the original artist up to a point. She changed quite a few of the chords, and it didn't work that well. Overall I have to say I'm not impressed.
