  • Writer-director Frank Whaley, primarily a busy film and TV actor ("Field of Dreams," "Ray Donovan"), has crafted a tender, evocative tale of an unlikely friendship in his fourth outing behind the camera, "Like Sunday, Like Rain."

    The title, which evokes some lost Neil Diamond song, refers to a music composition written by 12-year-old Reggie (Julian Shatkin), a cello prodigy and all-around brainiac who lives in hollow luxury on Manhattan's Upper West Side with his tense, dismissive mother, Barbara (Debra Messing).

  • The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has announced presenters for this year's ceremony: Paul McCartney will induct Ringo Starr, Stevie Wonder will speak on Bill Withers, Patti Smith will intro Lou Reed, Peter Wolf will show praise to the Paul Butterfield Blues Band, Fall Out Boy will discuss Green Day, John Mayer will pay tribute to Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble and Steve Cropper will extol The "5" Royales. Organizers have yet to announce who will induct Joan Jett & The Blackhearts.
