07-03 - GREEN DAY TO START TOUR WITH A BANG IN SEATTLE

Nothing like a little Green Day to fire up your Independence Day.

The popular punk band kicks off its 2009 world tour at KeyArena tonight, the start of the three-day holiday weekend.

In an recent interview with Rolling Stone, Green Day lead singer and guitarist Billie Joe Armstrong said he is hoping to give Bruce Springsteen "a run for his money." Springsteen may give five-hour concerts, but the Green Day stage show could be a six-hour marathon. The charismatic trio — Armstrong plus bassist Mike Dirnt and drummer Tré Cool — has been known to open for themselves as well as give multiple-hour encores, complete with requests from the audience.

07-03 - BULLET IN A BIBLE COMES TO BLU-RAY

Green Day's acclaimed 'Bullet In A Bible' live concert has now been released on Blu-Ray.

Following the success of the CD/DVD issue, the band's sold-out 13,000 capacity show - as filmed at Milton Keynes Bowl in June 2005 - is now available in the new format.

The Blu-Ray disc, which includes exclusive backstage footage as the band prepares to take to the stage as the historic event, is out now - released by Warner Music Entertainment.

Besides material from their 'American Idiot' album, the Samuel Bayer-directed concert footage (also includes fan favourites such as 'Basket Case' and 'Good Riddance (Time of Your Life)'.

Cambridge, Mass. – July 2, 2009 - Harmonix and MTV Games today announced that three exclusive tracks from multi-platinum, Grammy® Award-winners Green Day, as well as eight songs from artists performing at the premiere of the RockStar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival, will be added to the Rock Band® Music Store of downloadable content next week for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, PLAYSTATION®3 computer entertainment system and Wii™ system.

The Green Day tracks available next week are the first in an exclusive partnership between MTV Games’ Harmonix and Warner Music Group’s Green Day to bring the band’s songs to the Rock Band platform as downloadable content. These first songs, “21 Guns”, “Know Your Enemy” and “East Jesus Nowhere,” are from the band’s latest album, 21st Century Breakdown.
