    2. "Longview," Green Day "Dookie" was Green Day's major-label debut, and "Longview" was its first single (it went to No. 1). There probably was no better song in 1994 that captured that "slacker" mentality (pot smoking! boredom! other things we can't say!). It's also likely the best thing ever to come from being high on LSD, as bassist Mike Dirnt said he was doing when he wrote the bass line.

  • Billie Joe Armstrong, Athol Fugard To Receive Special Nods

    Rocker Billie Joe Armstrong, South African playwright Athol Fugard and New Haven’s Broken Umbrella Theatre will be recognized for their special contributions to theater in the state at the Connecticut Critics Circle Awards ceremony this month. 

     The event will be held at the Westport Country Playhouse on June 23 beginning with a reception at 6:30 p.m. followed by the awards ceremony at 7:30 p.m., hosted by actor Jake Robards.

    The free event is open to the public and has over the last few years become a rare opportunity for theater

  • Two And A Half Men' played a host of Green Day songs in Oakland, California
     
    Green Day's Billie Joe Armstrong played a gig with his son Joey Armstrong in Oakland, California earlier this week.

    Under the name Two And A Half Men the father and son were joined by touring member of Green Day Jason White for the show at 1-2-3-4 Go Records, reports Restless Press. The set included Green Day songs 'Church On Sunday', '2,000 Light Years Away', '99 Revolutions', 'Little Boy Named Train', 'Stuck With Me' and '409 In Your Coffee Maker'.
