Last week, we asked Rolling Stone readers to name their favorite U2 song – and we compiled the votes into a top 10 list.

Our question for you this week is: Who is the best punk rock band of all time?

You can vote here in the comments, on facebook.com/rollingstone or on Twitter with the #weekendrock hashtag.

I’m first introduced to Green Day bassist and Fender signature artist Mike Dirnt over the phone as he sits by an inflatable pool watching his toddler son splash around. A few months later, in the middle of a massive Green Day tour that was being recorded for a future live DVD (March 2011’s Awesome as F**k), we meet in person and rush through a quick interview before soundcheck. Fast forward to summer 2011, and we catch up again by phone for a marathon interview as he runs post-rehearsal errands in Oakland, Calif.

It's July and we're all anxious to get away for some time before the end of summer is upon us. So the eternal question came up again at dinner last night with some friends...if you could only take 10 albums with you to a desert island with no other access to music (sorry no cloud service is available on this particular island), what would they be?

Spotify, the jukebox service now rolling out via invite in the U.S., has a neat feature where users can publish and subscribe to each other’s playlists.

You have to love that tech leaders like Reed Hastings and Mark Zuckerberg are partaking in public playlists and revealing that some of their mutual favorite listens are Madonna, Lady Gaga and Taylor Swift. (Did guilty pleasure pop music help break the ice when the Netflix CEO recently agreed to join the Facebook board?)
