GREEN DAY'S 'BREAKING DAWN' VIDEO PREMIERES TUESDAY ON MTV
    October 29, 2012

Are you ready to see "Breaking Dawn - Part 2" yet? We're just a few weeks away from the release of the final film in the record-breaking franchise, and to celebrate, MTV has lined up a "Twilight" treat for Tuesday night.

We are proud to announce the world premiere of Green Day's music video for "The Forgotten," on Tuesday, October 30, at 6:55 p.m. ET/PT on MTV and MTV.com. "The Forgotten" is the first music video from the film's soundtrack and also features footage from "Breaking Dawn - Part 2." The song marks the band's first contribution to a "Twilight" soundtrack, which will be available three days before the film's release, on Tuesday, November 13.

"When we were asked to be part of the 'Twilight: Breaking Dawn - Part 2' soundtrack, we readily agreed because the films are an insane cultural phenomenon," bassist Mike Dirnt told Yahoo! of why the group chose to get involved with the franchise as it comes to a close. "We have always been impressed with the way the 'Twilight' soundtracks are so carefully curated."

Other acts featured alongside the Grammy-winning band on the "Breaking Dawn- Part 2" soundtrack include Passion Pit, Ellie Goulding (whose track is produced by real-life love Skrillex), Paul McDonald and wife/ series star Nikki Reed and "Twilight" soundtrack alums St. Vincent (she contributed to the "New Moon" album) and Christina Perri (who previously appeared on the "Breaking Dawn - Part 1" soundtrack).

Don't forget to tune in to MTV and MTV.com on Tuesday, October 30, at 6:55 p.m. ET/PT for the world premiere of Green Day's music video for "The Forgotten."

Seriously? Why are people so up in arms about Twilight? It's books & movies, you know, entertainment modalities not something that's being forced on you. If you don't like it, don't watch it, simple. Bashing it in every forum isn't going to make it go away or change anyone's mind. And holding it against a band you say you love is disrespectful. Especially when said band is going through a trying time. Punk rock is not always giving "the man" the middle finger. It's about doing what you want, when you want and not worrying about who is ok with it. The Twilight series IS a cultural icon whether you are ok with it or not. Because of that, when Green Day was approached to have a song on their album, they of course, said yes. Is it a great business decision? Yes. But ever since GD signed with a major label they have become a business, one that constantly shows their love for their fans, but still a business. So stop harping about the movie and just be happy that your favorite band has given you one more outlet to listen to their music. Sorry for any typos or bad autocorrects, can't scroll well enough to find and fix them.

I'm relieved to see that i'm not the only one who don't understand WHY Green Day does that! they're so much better that Twilight! they DO sing interessant and important things!!!!

HEY, GREEN DAY!! ARE YOU PUNKS OR NOT????!

Do you remember?

"Mass hysteria!
I don't wanna live in the modern world!"

For Green Day to be on the same CD as the like of Ellie Goulding, Skrillex and Christina Perri distresses me. But if Green Day are 'impressed' and proud of this, then I guess I'm proud too. Although I won't be watching Twilight any time soon.

This put Green Day on the same level of Paramore, Muse, Death Cab For Cutie. But Green Day is better, Green Day many years ago was the symbol of rebellion, of punk rock, of the uncoolest people. We want you out of the system, you should fuck the system. Punk rockers can't play on american idol, can't take part to reality shows, can't play for the Twilight saga. Hope to see you un Italy soon, we need you!

This saddens me...Green Day has too much talent to be a part of the blight on American culture that is the trash heap Twilight franchise. I hope they're at least getting paid loads. I still love them and will never stop supporting them...it's just devastating to see such a phenomenal musical talent associated with pre-pubescent romance that's written at a first grade level. I have such higher standards for you Green Day! You are all better than this!
